What the heck is a PR Girl anyway?

Recently we have been getting a lot of clients asking for “PR girls” in Vancouver.

Do we have PR girls? Yes, sure we do… if you are actually referring to a lingerie hostess or topless poker dealer. However you won’t find them listed under the term PR girl on our website, as gentlemen, that’s not what an actual PR girl is!

The top definition of the abbreviation “PR” in the Urban Dictionary? Office slang for Public Relations.

A PR girl is a pretty event helper who greets your customer, talks a bit about your product or just stands there looking beautiful to draw people to your booth. Some people also use the title to refer to a promo girl, which is basically the same thing.

If you dig further into the Urban Dictionary you will also see PR can stand for Puerto Rican, personal record, pre-rolled and panty raid. Yes panty raid (google it!). Nowhere does it say “one who attends parties in lingerie with the intent to entertain, serve drinks and possibly sell strip shows”.

So why are all these Vancouver guys calling in asking for PR girls? And why are some pop up (soon to pop back down) companies listing their lingerie staff as PR girls and FS girls*?

We aren’t sure, but how about this - if you want a girl in lingerie to hang out and entertain you at a bachelor party, please ask us for a lingerie hostess. If you want a pretty girl to help promote your product, please ask us for a PR girl. Then no one will be confused!

*FS stands for “full service”. At least that abbreviation actually makes sense!
